This oil is hand pressed by the citizens of Ceriana, a medieval stone hilltop town above Sanremo on Italy's Riviera. The terraces of Ceriana have grown olive trees since Roman times and the Roman and medieval structures still tower over the lush green valley. This organic oil is from 100% locally grown Taggiasche olives, widely acknowledged by many Italians to be the most flavourful of all the olive varieties.

Olive variety: taggiasche

Aroma and flavour: rounded, fruity flavours. This dry, smooth oil has a slightly tart hint which is typical of the taggiasche olive and makes it ideal for drizzling on sweet tomatoes or basil.

  • This olive oil is the finest grade and in Riviera households it would be used to drizzle on salads, bruschetta, or to finish cooked meats and seafood. Typically this finest extra virgin oil would neccessarily not be used for frying or glazing before cooking though it can be used as such. Store in a cool space away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not necessary. This oil can stay fresh for up to six months after opening if stored properly.
